The root of the Barr. Sam. Otoboeze Foundation is traceable to the life and time of Chief Ogbozor Otoboeze, who trained the first Ochima citizen to acquire Standard Six Certificate, but did not live long enough to train his first male child, Ozor Barth Otoboeze, beyond Standard Two. The academic fate of Sam, who was the 5th child in a polygamous family of 8 children, after the death of his father, could easily be imagined.
However, the favourable co-mingling of destiny with the grace of God did not only make Sam to graduate from the primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, respectively, with his mates but helped him to practically understand the agonies of lack of basic resources and the need to support those in certain conditions. These experiences coupled with empathy and hope formed the root of the Foundation
Although Barr. Sam Otoboeze Foundation’s activities started way back in 1989; it was only formally inaugurated as a body on 28 Dec. 2010 by a group of individuals, who benefited from Sam’s support in one way or the other. In his inaugural speech, the Foundation’s Chairman, Mr. Ambrose Odumije, reiterated that the aim of forming the Foundation was to continue to grow the dreams and ideals of Sam by touching others in dire need of help, the way they were touched by Sam. From that day, all the humanitarian activities by Sam became channeled through the Foundation.
